Several local fire crews were called to 305 East Molloy Road, two blocks down from the Mattydale Fire Department, just after midnight on Dec. 14.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire at the two-story duplex. Crews were on scene for a little over four hours.

No one was hurt, according to the Mattydale fire chief said, and while it’s unclear how many people are now without a home, American Red Cross volunteers gave immediate help to four people.
