Police on Sunday identified 31-year-old Christopher Jacobie Lennon Robinson II as the victim of an early Saturday morning crash in Tamuning.

Guam Police Department spokesperson Norman Analista said Robinson was a federal civil service employee, a civilian mariner assigned to the USS Frank Cable.

His next of kin has been notified, police said. Robinson died of his injuries hours after the crash, at 10:51 a.m. Saturday at Guam Memorial Hospital.

“Speed and impaired driving are being considered as possible factors in this fatal crash,” GPD said in Sunday’s statement. “This case remains under investigation.” Robinson is Guam’s second traffic fatality in 2026, GPD said.

Around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Tumon-Tamuning Precinct Command and Guam Fire Department units responded to a crash involving an SUV and a garbage truck on Route 1, also known as Marine Corps Drive, near McDonald’s in Tamuning.

The garbage truck was traveling west in the middle lane of Route 1 and attempting to turn right into the McDonald’s driveway, GPD said Sunday.

The SUV was traveling in the same lane behind the truck and “failed to provide sufficient clearance thus striking the rear end of the garbage truck,” GPD said.

Robinson was a passenger in the SUV and was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital. The driver of the SUV was transported to Guam Regional Medical City and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
