Fast-moving Paramount Fire reaches over 1,000 acres in Central California

Firefighters in Kings County were scrambling to control a quickly spreading fire.

According to CAL FIRE, the Paramount Fire started around 3:18 p.m. Wednesday, on 25th Avenue, near Interstate 5 near the Kings and Kern County line.

The fire has grown to 1,280 acres and is 75% contained.

At this time, there are no structures threatened.

Residents were urged to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate safely.

Kings County Fire has asked for some assistance from Fresno County Fire.

Resources from Kern County Fire and Avenal State Prison were helping with the containment of the fire.

The cause is still under investigation.
