Duluth fire crews responded to a structure fire on the 500 block of East Fourth Street just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. According to the Duluth Fire Department, firefighters from Downtown Headquarters arrived first and saw smoke coming from the basement of the building that is home to Palisade Primary Care and Uncle Loui’s Cafe. Crews entered the basement and put out the fire, which was contained to that area.
Firefighters from Downtown, Lincoln Park, UMD and Duluth Heights worked together to control the fire. Smoke and water damage also affected the upper floors.
No injuries were reported. The cause and extent of the damage are not yet known, and the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
Uncle Loui’s has confirmed that they will be reopening Thursday and say their side of the building just received smoke.
