Follow Up: Arson investigation underway after Diamond Head house fire

Police are investigating an arson after a fire burned through a house in Diamond Head early Wednesday morning. The Honolulu Fire Department responded to call about a building fire on Kaualio Place in Diamond Head at 2:53 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

When firefighters arrived, they found a a two-story home fully involved in flames and firefighters worked to take out the fire. The fire caused a partial roof collapse, so firefighters exited the home to continue fighting the fire from the outside.

The fire was declared under control at 3:31 a.m. and it was fully extinguished at 4:44 a.m. No one was harmed from the fire. When fire investigators returned to the home the following day, they determined that the fire was intentionally set. The Honolulu Police Department opened an arson investigation into the incident.
