A powerline dropped on a Southington firefighter at a house fire Wednesday afternoon, but the individual was uninjured. The fire broke out at a two-story home on 465 Savage St. Originally it was thought that the line had fallen on a fire apparatus, but the Southington Fire Marshal said the line fell on the firefighter.

The fire was reported at 11:42 a.m. as smoke coming out of a second-story window. Crews forced entry into the home but found no one inside.

“During the initial operations, the service wire to the home burned away and dropped onto crews advancing a hose line,” officials said in a statement. “No injuries to personnel or damage to equipment. The Southington Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.”

Eversource officials said they were called to respond and had a crew on scene. The home is next to the Southington Country Club.
