A man was hospitalized after he got caught in a “very dangerous section” of the Jordan River Surplus Canal.
A spokesperson for the Salt Lake City Fire Department said that multiple people reported the man was struggling to get out of the canal near 2100 South on Thursday evening.
They, along with medical personnel, deployed a rescue line and brought him out safely. He was transported to an area hospital in serious condition due to the amount of time he was in the cold water.
“This is a very dangerous section of water with a low head dam that has dangerous hydraulics that can entrap people, pets, and debris,” the fire department said.
