A woman was rescued after falling in Little Wild Horse Canyon and suffering a leg injury. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office said its search and rescue team was called out to the canyon after the dispatch center received a 911 text around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman had reported that she was unable to put any weight on her leg and that when she would try, “her knee kept popping out of place and slipping.”

Staff at Goblin Valley State Park reached the woman first and began providing medical aid before starting the process of preparing her to be carried out. Together with Emery County Search and Rescue, Deputies, and Utah Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement, the woman was carried out of the canyon. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office said she was then taken to a local area hospital in a private vehicle and was “in great spirits.”

“The response time was impeccable,” said Emery County Sheriff Tyson Huntington. “It’s like you were all waiting by the phone, ready to go. A special thanks to the Goblin Valley staff and DNR Law Enforcement. You always have our backs and serve diligently and professionally. Great job everyone!” Huntington added that he was able to speak to the woman after the rescue, saying she was “extremely thankful and seemed to be doing very well.”
