Two people were found dead after firefighters extinguished a fire at a two-story house in San Marcos, homicide investigators said Sunday. Deputies and firefighters responded to the 900 block of Lacebark Street at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, where the house was already engulfed in flames, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office reported.
“While working to put out the blaze, firefighters located two deceased individuals inside a second-floor room,” Lt. Juan Marquez said in a statement Sunday. “The San Marcos Fire Department requested the Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit to conduct a full investigation into the cause and origin of the fire. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit also responded to assist with the investigation.”
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death, according to Marquez. No other injuries were reported.
