Surrounded by his friends and family, 50-year-old Steven Perry passed away at his home on Saturday after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Perry served as the Assistant Chief of EMS and Special Operations for the Russellville Fire Department and as the Fire Chief for the Pottsville Fire Department.
Perry truly dedicated his life to being the best public servant he could be. His career started with the Blytheville Fire Department, before he moved to Memphis and served 15 years with the Memphis Fire Department. After that, Perry served 9 years as a flight paramedic, base manager, and HR director with Survival Flight before he landed in Pope County.
“Besides just his experience, he had a lot of leadership, a lot of energy. He was a very enthusiastic, very goal-oriented person that if there was a direction to get there, he would get you there,” said Chris Vick, RFD’s assistant chief of administration.
