Police and firefighters pulled three people from a house fire in Flint over the weekend. The Flint Fire Department and Michigan State Police responded to reports of the fire on West Newall Street in Flint around 9:10 p.m. on Feb. 8, according to information released Thursday by Michigan State Police.
Troopers arrived on the scene first and found the front door locked with residents trapped inside. Firefighters forced entry into the residence and escorted two children to safety outside.
Troopers found a 60-year-old disabled woman in bed as the fire burned nearby. They used fire extinguishers to slow the fire and carried out to safety.
An ambulance transported her to an area hospital for an evaluation. The children did not report any major injuries from the fire.
“This is a great example of teamwork,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Ashley Miller. “Their quick actions prevented a tragedy.”
