Person hurt, cats saved after San Tan Valley house fire; resident blames iPad

VIDEO: One person is recovering and three cats were rescued following a house fire that was reportedly sparked by a tablet in Pinal County on Wednesday night.

Just after 7 p.m., Rural Metro firefighters were called to a home in San Tan Valley’s Johnson Ranch neighborhood. Fire officials said crews entered the home to find a fire burning on the second floor.

According to Rural Metro Fire, crews were met with extreme heat and zero visibility. One person was taken to the hospital with minor burn injuries. Crews rescued three cats while battling the fire.

Ultimately, firefighters contained the flames to two bedrooms, but much of the second floor had extensive smoke and heat damage.
