VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Redding Fire Department is investigating a fire inside the vacant Bert and Ernie’s bar in Redding early Tuesday morning as an arson after multiple people were seen running away from the structure when the fire began. It happened around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the abandoned, fire-damaged building at 825 Industrial Street.
The Redding Fire Department said the building was burned in May due to transient activity, necessitating a defensive attack. After the fire was knocked down, firefighters entered the rear of the building and extinguished the remainder. Crews remained on scene for around three hours to ensure all hot spots were extinguished. The building, with an estimated value of around $75,000, is considered a total loss.
