A spokesperson with the North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) said Tuesday morning that the Oak Lane Fire in Madison County is 14 acres in size and 90% contained. Seventeen homes and three structures were threatened, but there has been no damage reported.

The Buncombe County Fire Marshal issued a statement Monday, discouraging open burning through Dec. 31, citing increased fire danger and windy conditions.
