A spokesperson with the North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) said Tuesday morning that the Oak Lane Fire in Madison County is 14 acres in size and 90% contained. Seventeen homes and three structures were threatened, but there has been no damage reported.

According to the NCFS map, the fire is now 100% contained as of 1:05 p.m.

One video shared by Jamey Johnson showed flames burning through tall grass in a field. Another video shared by Sabrina Griffin, taken near Mountain Home Estates, showed smaller flames burning dry leaves on the edge of a yard.

The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook on Tuesday for western North Carolina due to wind gusts of up to 40 mph, with locally higher gusts. The Buncombe County Fire Marshal issued a statement Monday, discouraging open burning through Dec. 31, citing increased fire danger and windy conditions.
