Share

Firefighters put out a high-rise building fire in Waikiki Wednesday night. The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 11:46 p.m., reporting a fire at the Waikiki Park Heights condominium on Kuhio Avenue. The HFD responded with 39 firefighters.

Upon arrival, crews did not see any visible smoke or flames from outside of the 23-story residential high-rise. Fire crews aggressively fought the fire, which was in a unit on the seventh floor, quickly applying water to contain the fire.

The fire was fully extinguished by 12:10 a.m. All occupants safely evacuated before fire fighters arrived, and no medical assistance was needed, according to HFD.

Crews then eliminated remaining hot spots and checked for possible fire extensions within walls and other concealed spaces to ensure the fire had not spread. The American Red Cross was called to assist one male resident who was displaced by the fire.
