Lebanon firefighters have moved their operations into a new fire station. The new $24 million station is about 9,000 square feet bigger than the old building on the same site.
In addition to a larger apparatus room for trucks, the station includes a dedicated decontamination area where crews can wash their gear and shower after returning from a call.
“This was a huge investment by our community. It doesn’t go unrecognized. But to know that our personnel have a safe work environment helps with our recruitment and retention. We continue to hire strong employees that come to work here. And I know that their long-term health is being taken care of and much better monitored now in this new building than it was in the old facility,” said Lebanon Chief Jim Wheatley.
The department is fully staffed with 35 employees, though the chief said several retirements are expected. Lebanon firefighters and EMS respond to roughly 4,600 calls every year.
