Kansas Man Sentenced for Insurance Fraud

Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced a Wyandotte County man has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for insurance fraud.

Christopher Dunn, aged 33, pleaded guilty on March 2, 2026, in Wyandotte County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud.

Dunn filed an insurance claim falsely stating his vehicle had sustained damages during an accident when he had intentionally caused the damage while fleeing from police during a traffic stop. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 10, 2026, to 16 months in prison with 12 months of probation following his release.

The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated this case which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.
