Hiker with broken leg rescued by Boise County Search and Rescue

Share

A hiker was rescued Sunday after suffering a broken leg on the Minneha Creek Trail, according to Boise County Search and Rescue. The Boise County Sheriff’s Office said dispatch received a 911 call at about 10:50 a.m. from the injured man, who was about 1.5 miles up the trail and beyond a locked access gate. The trailhead is located roughly halfway between Robie Creek and Idaho City, along Highway 21. Boise County Search and Rescue and East Boise County EMS were sent to the scene. Crews used a dirt bike to get past the locked gate and find the hiker, then later used a UTV to reach him once the gate was opened.

After his leg was stabilized, rescue crews brought the man back to the trailhead, where he was transferred to an ambulance and taken to a Boise hospital. Four EMTs with Boise County Search and Rescue responded with off-road and medical recovery gear, and officials said they safely stabilized and removed the injured hiker. The search and rescue team thanked the volunteers who responded to the call.
