The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) rescued a hiker on the Lanikai Pillbox Trail Thursday morning after it was reported that they sustained an injury.
HFD responded to the trail at 9:58 a.m. and went on the trail by foot and began to search by ground. Other units secured a landing zone nearby to prepare for search and rescue operations by air.
It was reported that a woman in her 60s was hiking and sustained an injury to her lower leg and couldn’t continue on the trail on her own. HFD crews arrived at her side by 10:12 a.m. and conducted a medical assessment and prepared her for extraction.
The woman was taken to a nearby landing zone where her medical care was transferred to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at 10:38 a.m.
