Gas leak prompts building evacuation in Kapahulu

A gas leak prompted a late-night evacuation at a Kapahulu building. The Honolulu Fire Department said crews responded around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday to a reported gas leak at 938 Kapahulu Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at 10:18 p.m. and confirmed a leak inside one of the units. The leak was secured, but all occupants were evacuated as a precaution. Hazardous materials personnel conducted air monitoring to ensure gas levels were safe before allowing residents to return to their units.
