The Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the human remains recovered from a Koyuk residential fire.

The remains have been identified as 23-year-old Trevor Savetilik. Authorities notified his next-of-kin.

Troopers and a Deputy Fire Marshal responded to the fire on March 4, 2026, after receiving a report around 6:05 a.m.

Three residents safely escaped, but Savetilik was initially unaccounted for. Investigators recovered the remains and transported them for identification.

Officials say the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is ongoing, but there were no immediate signs of foul play.
