VIDEO/PHOTOS: A nearly 80-year-old Provo business, handed down through three generations of one family, was destroyed after a large fire engulfed the building.

The scene unfolded around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday morning when neighbors next door said they came outside to see huge flames coming out of Ford’s Locker — a game processing business.

“We hear sirens on this road all the time, so I just thought it was a normal day. And then the sirens stopped,” said one neighbor who lived next door who wanted to remain anonymous. People who frequently visited the family business described it as a pillar of the community; “devastated” was a word people used several times to describe how they felt seeing the aftermath.

“We came running out and all of a sudden cops came running towards us, and they were like, ‘do not go back into that house,’” the neighbor said. “The fire was hitting the power lines and sparking towards our house, and they were worried it was a gas fire.”

Provo Fire and Rescue Deputy Fire Marshal Capt. Jeanie Atherton said all five of their stations responded when they got multiple calls about this fire.
