Firefighters put out a house fire in Beaverton on Sunday, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said, adding that a dog died in the fire. TVF&R crews were called out in the afternoon hours when a neighbor saw white smoke coming from the roof of a home near the intersection of Southwest Domino Street and 139th Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find a bedroom “fully involved” in fire, and the home filled with smoke. Crews managed to knock down the flames, limiting the damage mostly to the bedroom and stopping it from extending to through the rest of the home.
“The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire,” Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue said. “Unfortunately, a dog inside the residence did not survive.” There were no other injuries reported. Firefighters stayed at the scene to make sure the fire didn’t spread.
