Fire devastates Blaine County District One building

Share

A fire tore through the Blaine County District One building on Wednesday, causing significant damage and prompting investigators to search for the cause.

Geary Fire Department Chief Ben Nicolai said people inside the building were able to evacuate safely. Multiple fire departments from across Blaine County responded to the blaze.

“I mean, that’s the building, probably is pretty much a total loss. There is some equipment in the building, so this is the county building. So, loaders, pickups, tires, drums, oil, things like that. There, you know, we haven’t salvaged enough of it to know, but there’s several of the loaders are a full loss. And then obviously the building is probably a full loss,” said Nicolai.

Firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion while battling the flames. The fire marshal is on the scene, working to determine the cause of the fire.
