Fire destroys West Valley City home, kills one cat

PHOTOS: Fire crews responded to a residence in West Valley City for a house fire on Wednesday morning.

According to the homeowner, the fire started at approximately 6:30 a.m. The home is near 4200 West and 3000 South. The homeowner said that the fire started in the basement, but the cause is unknown. The West Valley City Fire Department said that the home is estimated to be a complete loss.

All residents made it out of the home safely, including two dogs. One cat died. The American Red Cross is helping the residents with next steps.
