Share

VIDEO: Fire crews responded Tuesday morning to Pier 28 in San Francisco after flames and smoke were reported by multiple 911 callers, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. The SFPD Marine Unit was dispatched just after 10:30 a.m. and located an active fire. The flames were promptly extinguished, fire officials said. Crews are removing sections of the pier to address all hotspots that could reignite the fire, SFFD said.

People were advised to avoid the area of Pier 28 and 475 Embarcadero South due to fire department activity, according to the SF Department of Emergency Management. “Expect to see a large number of fire apparatus in the area and anticipate traffic delays for at least the next hour,” fire officials wrote just before 11 a.m. No injuries have been reported in the fire response. The cause of the fire is unknown.
