Mayor Paul Keith confirmed that Captain Kolby Belcher was involved in a UTV crash Sunday evening and taken to a Little Rock hospital where he died.

“He was a great kid,” Keith said, fighting back tears. “He was like a son to me.”

In addition to working part-time with the Bay Fire Department, Keith said Belcher was a full-time firefighter for the Walnut Ridge Fire Department.

“He was the epitome of service,” Keith said. “You couldn’t ask for a better person, a better guy. It’s definitely hard on all of us.”

The mayor said Delta EMS Ambulance Services would be transporting Belcher’s body home. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
