Driver critically injured in West Valley City crash

Share

A driver was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night in West Valley City.

First responders were dispatched to the crash site at the intersection of 6055 West and 5400 South around 5:27 p.m.

West Valley City Police Lt. Steve Beardshall said one vehicle was traveling southbound on 6055 West and the other was heading east on 5400 South when they collided in the intersection.

The southbound vehicle was driven by an adult man, who was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

The second vehicle was driven by an adult woman with an adult male passenger. Both had minor injuries and went to the hospital on their own, Beardshall said.

Because of the critically injured driver’s condition, West Valley City police called out their Traffic Accident Investigation Team to continue investigating the crash.

“At this point, we honestly don’t know” whether the man’s injuries are life-threatening, Beardshall said, adding that while officers initially did not think so, “it sounds like his condition has kind of deteriorated at the hospital.” Gephardt Daily will update this article as more information becomes available.
