Custer County Fire announced it received a $50,000 grant from the Montana Department of Commerce Tourism Grant Program to buy equipment meant to support firefighters during emergencies.

The department said the money will pay for a new Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cascade system, which provides safe and reliable air support during emergency operations. Custer County Fire said the grant will help improve firefighter safety and strengthen response capabilities for the community and visitors.

“We are incredibly grateful for this investment in our department and our community. This grant will enhance firefighter safety, improve response capabilities and help us continue serving our residents and visitors at the highest level,” the department said in a release.
