Crews respond to structure fire in downtown Colorado Springs

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a fire in downtown Colorado Springs Thursday night. At 7:43 p.m., the fire department said crews were fighting a fire at South Sierra Madre Street and West Cucharras Street. The fire is now under control. According to the fire department, the fire was burning between two buildings.

They said one vacant building at 121 West Cucharras has smoke and fire damage, and a second vacant building at 119 West Cucharras was exposed to the bulk of the fire but did not spread to the inside. No one was reported injured. Crews say they plan to stay on scene to watch for hot spots. At this time, the cause of the fire is not known.
