Crews respond to abandoned building fire in Waianae, investigation underway

VIDEO: Investigators are looking into what started a fire Monday morning in Waianae. Honolulu Fire Department crews were called out to a building on Farrington Highway at 1:14 a.m. near Waianae District Park. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:16 a.m. to find a two-story, abandoned structure involved in fire.

The fire was under control at 1:23 a.m. and was declared fully extinguished at 2:50 a.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. The HFD Fire Investigator classified the cause of the fire as incendiary. The damage estimate to the structure is $2,000.
