Crash in Marshall County kills Wisconsin firefighter, 2 firefighters seriously injured

Share

VIDEO/PHOTOS: An Oshkosh firefighter is dead and two Sheboygan firefighters are seriously injured after a crash on an Indiana highway Thursday. The trio was on a work trip related to public safety and emergency warning systems — not in their capacity as firefighters, officials said.

26-year-old Tom Diener, a firefighter/paramedic with the Oshkosh Fire Department and a lieutenant with the town of Sheboygan Fire Department, was killed.

Carter Haen and Robbie Betts, both members of the town of Sheboygan Fire Department, suffered serious injuries and were transported to a trauma center in South Bend, where they received emergency medical care.

“Both are now in stable condition but face a long and challenging road to recovery, including ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation and lost income,” says a fundraising page from the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation.
