Colorado Springs firefighters knock down structure fire at abandoned building

Crews were on the scene of a structure fire in Colorado Springs late Thursday night. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), a person walking along East Bijou Street at 10:48 p.m. flagged officers down to inform them of a possible fire.

Officers said they found the fire was rapidly spreading across the bottom floor of an abandoned building in the 2200 block of Platte Place. Officers secured the scene and notified the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), who took control of the scene and later confirmed in a social media post that the fire was knocked down. Police said there were no injuries, and no one was found inside the building.
