City of Coeur d’Alene names 3 finalists for fire chief position

On Monday, the City of Coeur d’Alene announced three finalists in the selection process for the next Fire Chief of the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department. The city says it narrowed down the total pool of 34 applicants to nine for initial interviews. Interviews were held on Friday, Feb. 13, and the selection committee agreed to move three finalists forward for in-person interviews scheduled for Thursday, March 5. The finalists were selected for their work experience, professional accomplishments, and commitment to community service.

The finalists are:

  • Jake Bieker, currently an internal applicant with the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, serving as Fire Captain. Bieker brings more than 23 years of fire service experience.
  • Jon Fugitt, Deputy Chief with Fullerton Fire Department in California. Fugitt has 25 years of experience advancing through the ranks from Firefighter to Deputy Chief.
  • Kristan Maurer, most recently served as the Clark County Fire District 6 Fire Chief in Washington. Maurer has 25 years of fire service experience..
