Caddo Parish Fire District #1 mourns the death of Deputy Chief Scott Durfee

Caddo Parish Fire District #1 is mourning the loss of a longtime leader and public servant. According to a post on the Fire District #1’s Facebook page, Deputy Chief Scott Durfee died on Monday morning surrounded by those who loved him. Durfee’s cause of death was not stated.

Deputy Chief Durfee joined the department in 2000 and over the next two-plus decades the rose through the ranks.

According to the social media post, Durfee was a mentor, a teacher, and a brother to the firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and all members of the department.

Caddo Parish Fire District #1 is a combination paid/volunteer fire department situated just north of Shreveport. It encompasses a 174 square mile region, which includes the town of Blanchard and its surrounding area. Funeral arrangements for Deputy Chief Durfee are pending.
