Five senators have introduced a bill that would give the Guam Fire Department $300,000 to move forward with the establishment of a rescue base in Tumon.
Sens. Shawn Gumataotao, Sabrina Salas Matanane, Tina Rose Muña-Barnes, Jesse Lujan, and Christopher Dueñas introduced Bill 274-38, which would authorize GFD to expend $300,000 from its unexpended appropriated funds from prior fiscal years.
The bill prioritizes a portion of GFD’s unexpended prior years’ appropriations moving forward specifically for a rescue base located within Matapang Beach Park, a release from Gumataotao’s office stated.
“This measure represents an additional policy put forward through continued collaboration between our Public Safety, Tourism, and Finance Committees and the agencies within our oversight,” Gumataotao said in a statement.
