A wildfire that sparked on Forest Service land in Douglas County is now under control. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the ‘Bear Creek’ fire broke out near the Indian Creek Campground directly west of Castle Rock, along Highway 67, on Saturday night.
Deputies said they initiated a large air and ground attack, including four helicopters and hand crews, on Sunday.
As of 11 a.m., it has burned 11 acres, and deputies said they do not believe that it will grow any more.
Deputies credited AI cameras and sensors for detecting the fire early and allowing firefighters to reach the fire quickly.
