Acadian Ambulance donated three medical bags to the Houston River Fire Department this week. The medical bags will help the department better respond to medical calls before Acadian arrives. Houston River Fire Chief Dean Lappe says what the donation means to his department.
“On a day-to-day basis on these medical bags, you’re looking at approximately $800 to $1,000 for us to go purchase this bag. We just don’t have the line item in our budget for the medicals like that. We want to be a team player in this community. We want to work with Acadia and we want to help them out every chance we get. But without having the proper equipment, that’s not easy to do and not having the budget to purchase something like this, donation is huge for this district, for this department, our community,” Lappe said.
Lappe said the donation helps by allowing the department to put money towards other equipment.
