Explosion, house fire reported near North Bend; crews respond

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Emergency crews responded Thursday to a reported explosion and house fire on Curlew Lane in the Glasgow area north of East Bay Road, according to the City of North Bend.

City officials said the blast was heard and felt by residents in North Bend and surrounding areas, and large plumes of black smoke were visible as the home burned. Initial reports indicate nearby structures may have sustained damage from debris caused by the explosion.

Officials said the incident occurred outside North Bend city limits within the North Bay Fire District (NBFD). The city of North Bend deployed five personnel to assist with the response, said the city in a Facebook post.

Authorities said it was not immediately known whether the home was occupied at the time of the explosion. No information on injuries was available. Officials urged the public to avoid the area and allow first responders room to work.
