Share

Firefighters battled a house fire that broke out in a kitchen on Friday. Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the blaze at the intersection of Sweetbriar Lane and East 43rd Avenue at approximately 1:22 p.m. on April 10. Engine 15 from the south hills station arrived on scene six minutes after dispatch to find smoke and fire showing from the rear of the structure.

Firefighters made entry into the residence with a hose line and found the kitchen heavily involved in fire. Flames and smoke were venting from a large window. Truck 1 deployed a ladder to a second-floor balcony to search for potential victims. Crews reported heavy smoke and low visibility on the second floor, but no fire extension and no victims were found.
