VIDEO: A hiker is in critical condition after being attacked by a swarm of bees on Lookout Mountain in north Phoenix Saturday morning.

Around 10 a.m., first responders were called to the mountain after reports that multiple people had been stung, including a man in his 30s who was reportedly stung dozens of times, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Firefighters hiked up the trail and found the man about three-quarters of the way up the mountain. Crews said he was alert and speaking, but had low blood pressure and was in critical condition.

The man told rescuers he had been stung more than 100 times. Emergency crews treated him with medication and IV fluids before the Phoenix Firebird helicopter flew him off the mountain.

Officials said responders were able to stabilize his blood pressure, but he was still taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition.
