Eleven fallen firefighters in Louisiana were honored during a ceremony Saturday morning.
The ceremony took place at the Louisiana Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Baton Rouge. Families, coworkers, and community members gathered to reflect on the men and woman who’ve paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The names of the 2026 honorees, which included two firefighters from the Baton Rouge area, were added to the memorial wall. Mark L. Smith worked for the Baton Rouge Fire Department, while Charles A. Albert was part of the St. George Fire Department.
“To all those who serve and to the families who carry the weight of loss, may this memorial remind us to honor those who gave their all protecting the lives of each and every Louisiana citizen,” DPS Principal Assistant Chief Bryan J. Adams said.
During Saturday’s ceremony, there was also an honor guard presentation and procession.
