Two pets rescued from large house fire in Sandy neighborhood

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A large house fire broke out in the Sandy area, prompting a response from Unified Fire Authority and the Sandy Fire Department.

Benjamin Porter, a spokesperson with Unified Fire Authority, said the fire started just before noon near 2900 East 8300 South Robidoux Rd.

By the time crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the home. Firefighters began attacking the fire from a “defensive” position outside of the home. Porter said the fire was too much for firefighters to take an “offensive” stance by entering the house.

Crews were able to get into the home and clear the area, but they were actively defensively fighting the fire as of 1:30 p.m.
