ALLENTOWN, Pa. — On Feb. 22, Allentown firefighters responded to the 200 block of North 17th Street for a house fire with the reports of possible trapped occupants.

First-arriving companies found fire showing and one occupant who escaped onto a roof in the rear. With additional reports of people trapped, a second alarm was called for.

During a search, firefighters rescued an unconscious person on the second floor.

Both occupants were transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The photo of Truck 1 was submitted by Todd Darlrymple. Based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Todd Dalrymple Jr. is the photographer behind AFDSTRONG, a project dedicated to documenting the Allentown Fire Department. What began over a year ago as an effort to capture what the public rarely sees has evolved into something much more.

AFDSTRONG now serves as both a tribute and a lasting record of the Allentown Fire Department, for the firefighters, their families and the community.
