Calhoun County Emergency Management said the Florida Forest Service and local fire departments were working through Sunday improving fire lines and addressing various hot-spots. The fire remains at 500 acres and is now 80% contained, Calhoun officials say.
Officials will continue to monitor the situation through the night, adding that containment percentage factors in weather conditions and other criteria. They say fire lines are improving.
According to Calhoun County Emergency Management, damage assessments have identified a total of 43 displaced occupants, 15 dwellings destroyed, 7 outbuildings destroyed, along with 7 vehicles, 2 boats and 1 utility trailer.
Officials ask that if you have experienced any structural or residential damage to self-reporting using its damage assessment tool here or email [email protected].
As of 12:30 p.m. Calhoun County Emergency Management put out an update on the 500-acre wildfire burning in the Mossy Pond area.
The fire is still at a 60% containment level, but a fire line has been established and continues to improve according to the update.
