Firefighters respond to second-alarm fire at Ogden salvage yard after car ignites

Share

A car fire led to the complete loss of a salvage yard shop in Ogden. Ogden City Fire Deputy Chief Matthew Hess said crews responded to reports of the car fire just after noon on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, firefighters noted the fire “was much more,” and upgraded the call to a second-alarm fire.

Deputy Fire Chief Hess said employees at the salvage yard were working on the car when it ignited into flames. The fire then spread to the nearby shop and became “well involved.”

An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is underway. The fire department said the structure sustained an estimated $200,000 in damages, and Hess called the shop a total loss.
