WICHITA, Kan. — Amid days of intense wildfire operations across Kansas, firefighters coordinated to help a son visit his hospitalized father.

Two Clark County firefighters were injured while battling fires in mid-February and were flown to a Wichita burn unit for treatment, KAKE reported.

With help from Josh Griffin and Wichita Truck 2, the Kansas Firefighters Museum said the son was lifted in a Wichita Fire Department tower ladder outside Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita so he could see his father through a hospital window.

The museum shared photos of the moment from outside the hospital.

“From what I could see, his grin was ear to ear, and when he came down, that’s all he talked about,” Firefighter Joshua Griffin told KSN. “I think he put some light in a hard time that they were going through.”

The Kansas Firefighters Museum said both firefighters are recovering “exceptionally well.”
