Ocala Fire Rescue and city leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony for the planned new Fire Station #8 on Thursday morning.
City leaders, council members, CEP representatives, and senatorial aides helped break ground on the new station located on Northwest 45th Terrace.
The fire station’s location was chosen for its accessibility to I-75 via US 27 and SR 40 via NW 44th Avenue.
Station #8 will have three apparatus bays, an engine and rescue unit, and 15 additional personnel. The project is expected to be completed by late 2026.
“Growth is a sign of a thriving community, but it comes with responsibility. Station 8 ensures residents have the protection and rapid response they deserve. Public safety is foundational,” said Ire Bethea, the city council president.
