Rome Fire Chief to Retire After 36 Years of Service

Rome Fire Chief David Gratch will retire after a long career in fire service.

Gratch began working with the Rome Fire Department in 1990 and became chief in 2024.

He led Rome’s Oneida County Hazmat Team and played a key role in creating the department’s drone team.

Gratch’s last day as chief will be April 3.
